Important Note: This is a comparison of the mythological Tale of the Bamboo Cutter and its fictional depiction in Naruto.
Tale of the Bamboo Cutter 1
An old bamboo woodcutter found Kaguya-hime in the hollow of a bamboo stem, among a thicket flooded with light. Bamboo Shoot.

Naruto 1
Princess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki went to Shinju (God Tree). The fruit of the Shinju resembled a bamboo shoot in its lower body with a bamboo pole seemingly extending from its apex.

The woodcutter and his wife took in Kaguya-hime and treated her very well like their own daughter. She grew up to be of unparalleled beauty and this was known far and wide. |
2
Princess Kaguya ate the forbidden fruit and obtained its sacred powers. She was the first person to use chakra. With this, she was able to restrain the war by herself and was feared like a demon. |

Thereafter, the woodcutter would cut bamboo to find gold and precious stones. Because of these, his family became prosperous. |
3
Princess Kaguya had two sons, Hagoromo and Hamura Ōtsutsuki, the first humans to be born with chakra. |

After a while, however, the foster parents noticed that every night after gazing at the Moon, Kaguya-hime would suddenly burst into tears. Upon questioning with concern, she admitted that she may not be of this world and that eventually, her people would come and get her. After twenty years on August 15th, some heavenly beings descended to take Kaguya-hime back to her true home, the Moon. |

The Jūbi (Shinju, Ten-Tailed Beast) was created from Princess Kaguya's will. It tried to get back chakra that was shared between her two sons. In chapter 681, she was seen to suddenly burst into tears while holding Sasuke and Naruto's faces, both of whom reminded her of Hamura and Hagoromo, respectively.

Kaguya-hime herself went with the Heavenly Beings on her own accord. Kaguya-hime wrote a letter of gratitude and apology to her foster-parents. The foster-parents learned that she was only sent to Earth as punishment for an offense and that in exchange for taking good care of the Kaguya-hime, they were given gold and precious stones. Kaguya-hime also wrote a letter to the Emperor attached to a vial of elixir of life. Upon wearing the robe of feathers, she left her earthly life and ascended to the Moon. The Emperor was saddened and refused to take the elixir. Instead, he asked his men to burn the letter with it atop the holy Mountain of Fuji, in hopes of relaying his message to Kaguya-hime. To this day, some people believe that such smoke may be seen rising to the clouds above. |

Chakra was passed onto the future generations. Hagoromo taught ninshū to enable people with a better understanding of chakra. |
|
|
Based upon the comparisons drawn, there are parallelisms and oppositions. There is relevant difference, however:
In Myth, Kaguya-hime returned to the moon where she belonged; whereas
in Naruto, chakra was passed on from one generation to another.
With the revival of Princess Kaguya by Black Zetsu, a repeat of history has began (marked 4). Whether Naruto and Sasuke, respective incarnates of Hagoromo's sons Ashura and Indra, will be successful in sealing Princess Kaguya is still unknown.
